This Wichita Wednesday features Beautiful Day Cafe. It’s such a fun place, inside and out. And it has delicious food.
When you pull up to the cafe, you’ll first notice the impressive outside garden. According to beautiful day’s website, it’s called the green street permaculture and it’s maintained by volunteers. That’s pretty cool that a group of people can work together to keep the garden going. They do a great job!
Next, you’ll walk inside what I would call a Bohemian-style interior. It made me feel like I was in Eugene, Oregon. Oregon has such a distinct feel. But I was still in the middle of Kansas. The menu is on a chalkboard and it’s chalk (see what I did there?) full of goodies. They have breakfast, brunch, and lunch offerings, and they have a LOT of vegetarian and vegan options
I opted for the B.L.A.S.T. It had bacon (nitrate free), lettuce (romaine), avocado (guacamole), tomato, and mayonnaise. I don’t know what the S stood for, but it was something good! I got the half-sandwich, and it was served with a little side salad with mustard maple vinaigrette. The salad dressing was so delish that I started making a knock-off version for myself at home using maple syrup, dijon mustard, and a touch of olive oil.
All in all, it was a beautiful meal at the Beautiful Day Cafe. You should go check it out. It’s located on Central, between Hillside and Grove. To see their hours and their menu, check out the website: http://beautifuldaycafe.com.
